car from the Airport arrange to rent a car from the Auckland City Centre OR Rent a car on Day 4 09:00 Visit the Sky Tower Open 8:30am-Midnight. a Wellington station Walk through: 11:00 The Te Papa Museum 10:00-18:00 Entry is Free Go Buy LOTR Tour at the Wellington i-SITE Centre 202 Wakefield Street (Opposite Te Papa Museum) 13:00 Through Frank Kitts Park Have Lunch in this area 14:00 Visit: Parliament Buildings The grounds of Parliament are open to the public Just across the road from Parliament Buildings See the Turnbull House on Bowen Street, this imposing brick mansion now seems small and out of place amongst the surrounding high-rises. Opposite Parliament at 15 Lambton Quay The old Government Buildings. This is the largest wooden building in the southern hemisphere and the second-largest wooden building in the world. One block east of Parliament see Old St Paul's 16:00 Do The Wellington Cable Car, from Lambton Quay (next to the McDonald's), Open 7 days until 10pm. Tel: 04 472 2199, The easiest way to get a nice view of the city and harbour, the Cable Car runs 5-minute trips on rails from Lambton Quay to the Botanic Garden in Kelburn every ten minutes. ~$2.50 one way, ~$4.50 return Afterwards Go to the Botanic Gardens for an afternoon walk. Wander back to the city through the Bolton Street Memorial Park. Watch out for the cats that haunt in this hillside cemetery. If you're returning from the Botanic Gardens by foot, this is great place to wander through and check out the epitaphs of early pioneers and historical figures. 20:00 Have Dinner and a night out in Wellington. Day 7 8:30am Do an All Day Lord of the Rings film sites of
Wellington Tour Book a Tour {~NZ$170 (Including Lunch)} Or do it on your own: Venture along: -The Great River Anduin that flowed through Middle Earth between the Misty Mountains and Mirkwood, -Hobbiton Woods, where the Hobbits hid from the Nazgul while fleeing the Shire.This film site located on Mount Victoria also offers spectacular 360-degree views of Wellington City, harbour, and hills. -Helms Deep where the Orcs battled King Theodore of Rohan to overtake his stronghold, -Rivendell where the room and the bed for Frodo’s recovery from the Sword attack by the Ring Wraiths was staged. 20:00 Have Dinner and another night out in Wellington.
